Choosing a newborn photographer can be difficult. Newborn photography requires someone who not only has a good eye for photography and technique but also has skill, care and patience to make the session relaxing for the baby and you, the parents. During the newborn photo session we will have a pleasant temperature of 26 degrees and a wide variety of soft and cute clothes for your baby. The newborn photo session is also scheduled with enough time to breastfeed your baby, as little ones always sleep better with a full belly.

When should I book a Maternity Photoshoot?

The ideal time for stylish pregnancy photos is 30-36 weeks. It is best to make a reservation early. That means a couple of weeks before the desired photoshooting. If you book early, I am sure that I can offer you a suitable date. Your baby bump photo shoot can take place outdoors or in my photo studio in Porto. I have a selection of dresses and outfits that I will provide you with free of charge for your pregnancy shoot.

Maternity Photo sessions take place:

In my studio in Ermesinde, Porto: Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and Thursday 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Outdoor: Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Monday-Friday 6 p.m. only in summer

When should I book a Newborn Photoshoot?

It is best if a newborn photo shoot takes place between the fifth and fourteenth day of the baby's life. Please make a reservation early, that means a couple of weeks before the planned birth. I am sure that I can offer you a suitable date. Your baby photo shoot takes place in my home photo studio in Porto.

I come from Gdańsk, Poland, lived in Zurich for 15 years and have been living in Porto since 2022. I am a mother of three beautiful children and the wife of a handsome Portuguese. We speak four languages at home (portuguese, polish, english, and german). I have been a digital photo retoucher since 2008, alongsite my scientific career in Biology. Since 2018, I am a full-time photographer and owner of Kleiner Sternli Fotografie. I specialized in newborn, maternity and family photography. I participated in a number of international workshops and trainings in the field of newborn photography and the use of light in photography. I was constantly educating myself in the art of photography, processing and session planning. Meeting with families and their children during newborn photo sessions is a unique experience that is different every time. It is an amazing privilege for me to be able to document moments such as waiting for a new family member or the first days of parenthood. The most important for me as a photographer is to capture the beauty of these unique moments of your life as beautifully as possible.

How to prepare for the pregnancy photo session in Porto with Arte Delicada Fotografia

To get the most beautiful pregnancy photographs you need to take several aspects into account. Here I give some tips on how you can prepare for photo shoots. If you have questions or want more advice, contact me and I can clarify your doubts and help you plan the session in the best way.

 

 

Pregnancy photo session:

- Book your Pregnancy session in advance. Ideally, you should have your maternity photo session between 29 and 36 weeks of pregnancy

- Choose the pregnancy dresses from my collection that you like the most, and list any other wishes you have

- Get your hair proffessionally done at a hairdresser

- Let a professional make-up artist do your makeup

- Try to get a good night's sleep the day before

- Drink enough to make your skin glow

- Eat breakfast

- Bring makeup and a hairbrush to the session to fix your make up and hair if necessary

 

 

 

Clothing:

- Made of fabric that is not prone to wrinkling or creasing

- It's better to be in neutral tones (white, beige, gray, pastel colors, no fluorescent colors)

- Timeless classic and elegant style recomended

- Best with no patterns or prints

- When 2 or more people are photographed together they must wear clothes in similar colors and same style

 

 

 

Newborn photo session:

Babyebé

- Ideally, schedule the newborn photo session up to 14 days of age. When your baby is a bit older, don't worry because you can also get beautiful photos

- Feed your baby just before the session starts. You can do this conveniently in the studio after you arrive

You will still need:

- If bottle feeding your baby, bring the milk and bottle.

- Pacifier, even if your baby doesn't normally use it,

- Three diapers,

- Favorite baby blanket

- Favorite teddy 

 

Clothing:

- Mom: white/black sweater or top or dress without printed pattern or text

- Father: white / black shirt, sweater or T-shirt without pattern or text, pants without pattern

Parents should wear similar colors

- Siblings should wear a similar style to their parents

- The whole family should wear similar colors, and same style of clothing

 

Duration

- Even if we have a one-hour session, reserve some more time (up to 2 hours) for the newborn photo session. Sometimes babies need a little more time to calm down so they can be fed or fall asleep. The essential thing is that the session is a relaxing experience for the baby and parents, which is why it is important that time is not an issue
